Mr. Robert, (Bob), Withers
Mr. Robert (Bob) Withers began his judging career in 2005, prior to becoming a judge he trained and competed with Shetland Sheepdogs for many years. During those years he was also an instructor teaching competitive and non-competitive classes in the Central Florida area. Late in 2004 Bob was attending an AKC Judges seminar as a spectator, on the second day it was announced by Pat Krause that the afternoon session would be devoted to the introduction of Rally to the current Judges as it would become a recognized event in 2005. After the session Pat asked if there was any interest from anyone in becoming a Rally Judge and Bob had been instructing classes to the public and many of his students in attendance recommended that he apply which he did and so began his Judging career.
Bob was honored to judge the first AKC National Rally Competition in 2014 and had the privilege to judge the Juniors Classic in 2016. Bob also served on the 2010 AKC Rally Advisory Committee. Bob was honored again in 2019 when he was invited by AKC to be a judge at the National Obedience Championship (NOC).
Bob is a Lifetime member of the Mid-Florida Shetland Sheepdog Club, a member of the Tampa Bay Area Shetland Sheepdog Club and currently president of the Imperial Polk Obedience Club in Lakeland, Fl.
Bob also volunteers many hours each year in support of the Florida 4-H and Future Farmers of America youth organizations, it is his belief that if we are to successfully continue our beloved dog sports, we have to create interest with our youth.
